The St Bride Library is a wonderful resource for students studying a variety of subjects
from graphic design, history of the book, journalism and much more.
Tours and Workshops
We encourage higher education institutions as well as Lifelong learners to come and
learn about our archives and printing artefacts.
We offer tailor made tours and workshops to fit the needs of each group of visitors. We
recommend that tutors visit the library beforehand to truly understand the breadth of our
collections.
During a 90 minute session, Nigel Roche, the library’s Head Librarian will take your group
on a journey through the history of printing. The lecture (tailored to your relevant area
of study) may include discussion on styles of printing type, construction of a common
press, wooden vs. iron presses, ink making, or an introduction to typography.
Examples from our collections will be used to illustrate the lecture and a presentation of
the processes involved in letterpress printing can be seen.
